TypeRadio
Typographic Exploration
As a map is the notation of landscape, so type is the notation of language. Yet typography has usually been very poor at evoking the accents and the stresses of the spoken word and the oral tradition of language.
I believe type should express the richness of the way we speak, so I recorded six different radio stations and expressed them phonetically through type. I stitched text into watercolour paper, to try to instil a sense of the humanity, indiosyncrasy and sensuality which is in each of our voices.
